The deadline for this project is quickly approaching, so I decided it was time to really get going on it. I struggled last night with the cutting out of the silhouette - it just wasn't translating from sketch to a paper cut-out. After wasting a few sheets of watercolor paper, I decided to step away.
This morning I decided to try again, but with a different silhouette than the one I sketched. This means abandoning my original idea completely, but this new silhouette is coming together and feels right. So now the silhouette is cut out, I have a plan for a less 3D piece - no colors quite yet, but I'm getting there. I think it's going to be very colorful.
I really almost abandoned the whole project and was feeling pretty badly about it last night. Then I thought about writing about ditching the project here on the blog and knew that I just couldn't do that. So I guess in a way, it's a good thing I'm posting here, because I might have bailed on this project without the blog. As it stands now, I've got a silhouette waiting for me to do something amazing. I love that.
Here's what my silhouette looks like so far:
I'm thinking bright color, animal print, some metallic accents...Lots of possibilities! You can also see about the size thanks to the canvas underneath. We'll see what happens.
