I need to think about my art journal in a different way - it's not playing catch up if I do a little bit when I can. I don't want to feel badly if I don't complete a page every week, because that's not the point of keeping an art journal. I did complete a page I've been working on for a few weeks now, and I think it's a pretty nice page. I like how the large black elements stand out:
I like some of the "sketchier-looking" qualities on this page, too.
I'm struggling with my boxes - it's driving me slightly crazy that they aren't perfectly squared off and the lines are wobbly. I am thinking maybe I could solve that by making a few templates to work with, like a stencil of squares and rectangles.
What I really like about keeping a journal like this is doing something that appeals to me on whatever day I'm working on it. Sometimes it's capturing an event that happened that day, sometimes it's a thought that occurs to me, sometimes it's just a sketch or a design. I know that looking back on this journal is going to be a fun way to remember each of these times I created a little box of art.
